I’m so excited for this year’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry in San Francsico on March 28th. I’ve never attended the event, and I’m excited to not only try foods from some amazing SF restaurants, but to also support a great cause.

Please help support the mission to end childhood hunger and purchase your tickets today!

San Francisco’s very own Kaiyō, a highly lauded Peruvian-Japanese restaurant that opened in Cow Hollow last year, will be participating — I wonder what they’re going to be serving up in a couple of weeks! I tried several dishes during my visit. My favorite items were:

• Hokkaido scallop tiradito (passionfruit leche de tigre, sweet potato purée, chia, pickled red onion)
• Uni toast (santa barbara uni, aji amarillo butter, lardo, chives, almonds, fleur de sel)
• Chutoro nigiri (zuke marinated medium fat belly tuna)

Their cocktail list is unique not only for their names (the Panyo Panyo is pictured above with my scallops), but also the mix of flavors and spirits I haven’t seen before. I will definitely return again to start off my night with their happy hour and stay for the rest of the dinner menu.
