Veterans Day 2017 Bay Area discounts and freebies
Happy Veterans Weekend/Day! Thank you to all the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving our country. We appreciate your service. I’ve put together a list of eateries in the Bay Area that are celebrating with some freebies and discounts on Saturday, November 11, 2017, unless otherwise noted.
Applebee’s: choose one of seven meals (see link), free with military ID.
BJ’s Restaurant: on Nov 10 and 11, enjoy a free entree up to $12.99 with military ID. While there, enjoy a beer donated by the community too!
Black Angus: get an 8 oz. Top Sirloin with mashed potatoes, fresh broccoli with garlic butter and a non-alcoholic beverage for $9.99 with military ID from Open until 3pm.
Boston Market: buy one individual meal + drink, get one individual meal free with coupon (see link) and military ID.
Buffalo Wild Wings: wings for heroes — one small order of traditional or boneless wings and a side of fries with military ID. Valid all day.
California Pizza Kitchen: free entree from their special Veteran’s Day menu (see link), valid with military ID.
Chuck E. Cheese: one free personal 1-topping pizza to military veterans with valid military ID.
David’s Tea: free tea of the day for service members and their families through Sunday, November 12.
Dunkin Donuts: free donut with valid military ID (limit 1 per person), no purchase required.
Famous Dave’s: free two-meat salute, corn bread, and one side with valid military ID.
Fogo de Chao: veterans and active duty receive 50% off their meal with military ID; up to three additional guests in the party will receive 10% off. Valid through Sunday, November 12.
Freebirds World Burrito: free burrito with purchase of an entree, valid with military ID.
Hooters: all military personnel eat free — choose from one of five entrees. Beverage purchase required with military ID.
Ikea: free entree with military ID in the Ikea restaurant.
Krispy Kreme: veterans and active duty receive one free donut and small coffee. Valid all day.
Little Caesar’s Pizza: free lunch combo: 4 slice DEEP!DEEP! Dish pizza with pepperoni and one 20-oz Pepsi-Cola product. Valid with military ID from 11am-2pm.
Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt: first 6oz frozen yogurt free. Valid military may be required; post suggests calling ahead to verify participation.
Olive Garden: veterans and active duty members eat free all day.
Outback Steakhouse: free bloomin’ onion and beverage with military ID.
Panera Bread: veterans and active military personnel can get a free breakfast sandwich until 10am. Valid with military ID.
Pieology Pizzeria: free one-topping pizza (original crust only) with purchase of a beverage; ID required. At participating locations (I received an email from the Cupertino, CA location).
Red Lobster: free appetizer or dessert, valid with military ID.
Red Robin: free Tavern Double Burger (with proof of service), no purchase required.
Sizzler: veterans and active duty military service personnel will receive a free lunch, from open until 4pm. Choose from a 6oz steak entrée, single Malibu chicken entrée, or Crispy shrimp (6) entrée. Each of these three entrees includes a choice of side and a beverage. Participating locations listed at the link.
Soup Plantation: $8.29 lunch or dinner, including beverage; no coupon required, just show military ID.
Texas Roadhouse: free lunch — choose from one of twelve entrees and one non-alcoholic beverage. Valid with military ID.
TGI Fridays: guests who show their military ID will be treated to a free lunch menu item up to $12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests will also receive a $5 coupon for their next meal at Fridays.
Weinerschnitzel: show your military ID or wear your uniform to get a free chili dog, small fries, and small Pepsi.
Yard House: free appetizer with valid military ID.
Other Veterans Day deals:
- Babies”R”Us & Toys”R”Us: receive 15% off eligible purchases in-store with valid military ID.
- Dick’s Sporting Goods: 20% off purchase of $100+.
- Great Clips: veterans can get a free hair cut with valid military ID or a free haircut card to use by December 31, 2017. Non-military customers can purchase a service and will receive a free haircut card to give to a veteran to redeem before December 31.
- Lowe’s: register for a myLowe’s military account to receive 10% off all eligible purchases everyday. The Lowe’s founder wanted to honor his legacy (in the military) and extended this offer beginning May 2017.
- Michael’s: in-store and online – save 20% off entire purchase, including sale items with coupon (code: 20SAVE11517). See link for coupon.
- Rite-Aid: 20% off purchase with military ID.
- Passion Planner: $10 off academic passion planners.
- Raise: save $5 on orders of $100+ with code 5HONOR.
- Starbucks: supposedly, they give military personnel a free tall drink, but I couldn’t find any mention of this in Starbucks’ press releases or on their social channels. Anyhow, Starbucks is running a holiday promotion with buy-one-get-one holiday drinks, so grab a vet or friend to spread some holiday cheer. Offer is valid 2-5pm through November 13.
- Target: fill out the form (see link) to receive a coupon via email that can be used in-store or online for a 10% off coupon. Coupon will be valid through November 11, 2017.
- TOMS Shoes: receive 15% off your purchase upon verification of military ID (valid for active military, veterans, spouses, and dependents)
- Visit a National Park for free all weekend!
- Walgreens: receive 20% off eligible full price purchases with valid military ID.
Monday, November 13:
- Claim Jumper: enjoy one free entree from their special Veteran’s Day menu with military ID.
Tuesday, November 14:
- University of the Pacific (SF & Union City): free dental check-ups for military personnel and veterans at the University of the Pacific dental school between 9:30am-1pm at the San Francisco or Union City clinics. Call to make an appointment.
